In the presence of several national dignitaries and leaders of different federal, local and academic authorities, His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, yesterday announced and inaugurated the launch of the “Volunteering in service of the Community and Nation” project – a project organized and implemented by Sandooq Al Watan alongside the Ministry of Tolerance and Coexistence, in cooperation and coordination with different entities and state ministries – in the aim of fortifying the role of nationals in the service of society and the nation, and to deepen their contributions towards achieving the desired national goal of a “cohesive society that preserves its identity” in a prestigious and effective manner.
As an extension to the vastly successful volunteering program that took place during Dubai’s Expo 2020, His Excellency also launched the “National Platform for Voluntary Work” and witnessed the launch of the training program activities relating to methods of activating volunteering and community service programs in society for a select group of volunteers. As a result of this, and in cooperation with the Expo office, the Ministry of Tolerance and Coexistence now has a database of more than 21,000 volunteers of different nationalities, ages and from across all regions of the country.
