Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sandooq Al Watan, said that the first annual conference of Sandooq Al Watan (Nation’s Fund), this year focuses on underscoring the Fund’s role and joint initiatives with community organisations to promote the UAE national identity among citizens.
“At Sandooq Al Watan, we believe that the efforts to promote national identity should not be limited to theoretical lectures. They should involve practical, social leadership initiatives, educational programmes, knowledge development, volunteering, and community services of economic importance,” he said.
Sheikh Nahyan made this statement during his inaugural speech today of the annual conference of Sandooq Al Watan in Abu Dhabi in the presence of thought leaders and intelligentsia from the Arab world, officials from the Ministry of Tolerance and Coexistence, representatives of academic and social organisations, and Emirati intellectuals, artists and writers.
The conference discussed the elements of national identity and the process of drafting a comprehensive vision for key programmes to promote knowledge production and utilising best international practices in this field.
